Raleigh 12-year-olds are Cal Ripken 2014 Champions

Everyone has that dream. To make it to the big time.

The Cal Ripken World Series is home to the best 12-year-old baseball players in the world, representing the Cal Ripken Major/70 division of the Babe Ruth League. It's the culmination of a year-long journey known as the Road to Aberdeen.

Meet the team from Raleigh, who is  coached by Bryan Holjes, and  made it to the championship game:

The West Raleigh Big Blue are national champs and will go for the world title Saturday in the Cal Ripken World Series in Aberdeen, Md., just outside Baltimore.

Saturday came and went in Baltimore, with Raleigh's 5-2 win over Mexico in the Cal Ripken World Series championship game.  It must be a good feeling to hoist the championship trophy.
